Salesforce Winter '27 for Sales Teams: Sales Cloud Becomes Agentforce Sales
Sales Cloud is now Agentforce Sales in the Winter '27 release notes; no licence or UI change is described. The Sales section is small; most agent features need Enterprise or above plus an add-on. Two dated actions: Microsoft retires Exchange Web Services in October 2026 (Einstein Activity Capture, Inbox, Lightning Sync), and email verification exceptions end on 1 December 2026.
What does the Agentforce Sales rename actually change?
The Sales landing page of the Winter '27 release notes says only: "Sales Cloud is now Agentforce Sales. You may see references to Sales Cloud in our application and documentation." The Revenue Management page does the same for Revenue Cloud, now Agentforce Revenue Management.
That is the whole of it. Neither page describes a UI change, a new SKU or a licence rename, and no feature page we read does either; Where lines still say "with Sales Cloud" and still use Enterprise, Performance and Unlimited. Salesforce's own site is mixed: as at 8 September 2026, salesforce.com/sales says "Agentforce Sales (formerly Sales Cloud)" and, further down, "Try Sales Cloud free for 30 days". Treat the rename as branding.
The section is also small. Compared with Summer '26, Sales Fundamentals holds only Sales Workspace and Account Plans items, and we found no Winter '27 note for Leads, Opportunities, Accounts, Contacts, mobile, Maps or Quotes. No note found is not no change: Sales features "are released as often as monthly".
Which new features need an add-on?
Editions and add-ons are exactly as each page's Where line states them, as at September 2026. If your edition is not named, assume the feature is not yours.
| Feature | Editions in the Where line | Add-on named | Worth it for 5 to 50 reps? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Agentforce Engagement (was Agentforce Lead Nurturing), new builder, manual review of agent emails | Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited | Agentforce Engagement add-on | Only if you already run the agent |
| Agentforce Prospecting: scheduled runs, boost contacts engaged in the past 12 months | Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Developer | Agentforce for Sales add-on per user, or Agentforce 1 Sales Edition | Rarely; from US$125 per user per month on the US pricing page, 8 September 2026 |
| Agentforce Sales Management: guided Salesforce Go setup for Account and Pipeline Management field updates | Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Developer | Agentforce for Sales add-on, or Agentforce 1 Sales | Same add-on; sandbox only from 4 September 2026 |
| Sales Workspace custom signals, Agentforce Assist, escalated-case signals, signal reporting | Enterprise, Unlimited, Agentforce 1 Sales | Sales Foundation add-on | Not without it |
| Pipeline Forecasting: deal risk, agent activity and heatmap columns | Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited | None stated for the AI columns | Check your upgraded sandbox |
| Enhanced Opportunity Scoring, "Powered by Data 360 AI models" | Performance, Unlimited; Enterprise with an add-on | Agentforce or Revenue Intelligence add-on on Enterprise | Only if you already hold one |
| Call Coaching on video calls: up to 8 competencies | Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Agentforce 1 Sales | Einstein Conversation Insights; AI evaluation also needs Agentforce for Sales | Yes, if you already record calls |
| Account Plans setup in Salesforce Go; Relationship Maps stakeholder editing | Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited with Sales, Agentforce 1 Sales | None named | Yes |
| Einstein Activity Capture exclusions: keyword, regular-expression and wildcard domain rules, automatic "confidential" exclusion | Starter Suite, Pro Suite, Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, Einstein 1 Sales, Agentforce 1 Sales | None | Yes; the only Sales page naming Pro Suite |
Every agent feature sits behind an add-on and starts at Enterprise. For a small team, the no-add-on items (Account Plans, Relationship Maps, capture exclusions) are the ones to roll out this quarter; if you are weighing the add-on, see what Agentforce costs a small business.
What must every sales org do before December?
Our July dates post listed Adopt Authorized Email Domains among the enforced updates. That update was cancelled and "replaced by the Maintain Your Email Verification Exception update". It applies to all editions.
Maintain Your Email Verification Exception is enforced on 1 December 2026, a calendar date, not a release weekend. It appears only in orgs where Salesforce Support once disabled user email address verification: if it is under Setup, Release Updates, you are affected.
On enforcement, "Existing users who haven't verified their email address and return email address can't send email from Salesforce." Logins are unaffected; sending is.
The replacement is a setting you control: each Authorized Email Domain now has a Require Address Verification to Send Email field (Always, For Updated Addresses Only, or Never). Choosing Never means only users with Manage Users or Modify All Data can update email addresses on user accounts.
Do now:
- Setup, Release Updates: is the update listed?
- Setup, Quick Find, User Email Domains, then List Domains, for verified and unverified address counts by domain.
- For each domain with unverified users, get them verified or set that domain's requirement to Never before 1 December 2026.
- Set a substitute From address; without one, mail for users on an unverified domain goes out from email@UniqueId.sfcustomeremail.com.
Every Winter '27 release update, and what each breaks, is in our release updates post.
Are you still on Microsoft Exchange Web Services?
Three notes, one message. Einstein Activity Capture: "keep your data syncing without disruption when Microsoft retires Exchange Web Services (EWS) in October 2026." Inbox says the same. Lightning Sync: "Lightning Sync configurations that use EWS won't capture or sync data after this retirement." The notes cover only Microsoft 365 and Exchange connections.
How to tell: a Microsoft 365 connection set up before Spring '26 may still authenticate with EWS; connections made from Spring '26 use Microsoft Graph automatically, and the upgrade has been available since February 2026. It is a one-click tool that needs a Microsoft admin to grant consent in Azure, after which users on user-level OAuth, and all Inbox users, must reconnect their Microsoft 365 accounts; for Lightning Sync it is in Setup under Outlook Integration And Sync. A rep who ignores the reconnect prompt has not completed the upgrade.
Do it in September: Australian-hosted production instances (AUS58 to AUS102) upgrade to Winter '27 on Saturday 10 October UTC (early Sunday 11 October in New Zealand), per Salesforce Trust as at 8 September 2026, the same month Microsoft's retirement starts.
Related: Lightning Sync itself "is scheduled to retire in 2027" and cannot be migrated to Einstein Activity Capture while on EWS, and Salesforce for Outlook is retired in December 2027. Once on Einstein Activity Capture, set the new exclusion rules before you widen capture.
The OAuth and API retirements that hit integrations rather than mailboxes are in our integrations post.
What is new for Starter Suite and Pro Suite?
Three items, all in the Salesforce Suites section of the notes:
List Sends without a Data 360 segment. Emailing a Contact or Lead list no longer needs a segment first, a step the notes say "introduced delays and occasional failed sends". Available from mid-August in Free Suite, Starter Suite and Pro Suite; Starter Suite and Pro Suite can also schedule sends.
Agentforce in Free Suite. From August 2026 the conversational Agentforce panel is included in Free Suite. The page names Free Suite only.
Prebuilt integrations. Starter Suite and Pro Suite get two-way integrations "Powered by MuleSoft and Flows", set up from the Automations app, Integrations tab. The named examples are QuickBooks Online and Jira; Xero is not named, so check your org's list before assuming.
Choosing between them? See our Starter versus Pro Suite comparison.
What is retiring in Sales?
Dates only where the page gives one.
| Retiring | When (per the release notes) | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Exchange Web Services (Einstein Activity Capture, Inbox, Lightning Sync on Microsoft 365) | "starting October 2026" | Upgrade to Microsoft Graph now |
| Sales Engagement Performance Dashboard | November 2026 | Use the Sales Engagement Sample Dashboard (data now stored natively) |
| Salesforce to Salesforce (release update) | Fully retired in Spring '27; support ended Summer '26 | Migrate to Partner Cloud, Data Cloud One, MuleSoft Anypoint or MuleSoft for Flow |
| Lightning Sync | "scheduled to retire in 2027" | Migrate to Einstein Activity Capture after the Graph upgrade |
| Salesforce for Outlook | December 2027 | Move to the Outlook integration and Einstein Activity Capture |
| Activity 360 Reporting, Activity Metrics, Activities Analytics Dashboard and six Unified objects | "scheduled to retire", no date | Turn on Sync Email as Salesforce Activity and rebuild reports on Task and EmailMessage |
How SAASKOOL can help
Most of this is admin work, not licensing. Through our Agentforce Sales (Sales Cloud) service we roll out the no-add-on items (Account Plans, Relationship Maps, capture exclusions and, for Suites customers, List Sends and the prebuilt integrations) and check whether your Microsoft 365 connection is still on EWS. If nobody owns your Release Updates page, managed services (from NZ$1,000 per month) covers the email verification check, sandbox testing before your October window and the 1 December deadline. The health check is free.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Sales Cloud being replaced by Agentforce Sales in Winter '27? No. The Winter '27 release notes say Sales Cloud is now Agentforce Sales and warn that the old name will keep appearing in the application and documentation. No page we read describes a licence, SKU or UI change tied to the rename, and Where lines still use Enterprise, Performance and Unlimited. Treat it as branding.
Do the new Agentforce Sales features in Winter '27 need an add-on? Mostly, yes. Prospecting and Sales Management need the Agentforce for Sales add-on or Agentforce 1 Sales Edition, Engagement has its own add-on, Sales Workspace signals need Sales Foundation, and Enhanced Opportunity Scoring on Enterprise needs Agentforce or Revenue Intelligence. Account Plans in Salesforce Go, Relationship Maps editing and the Einstein Activity Capture exclusions name no add-on.
What happens on 1 December 2026 if I ignore the email verification update? If Salesforce Support once disabled email verification for your org, the Maintain Your Email Verification Exception update appears under Release Updates and is enforced on 1 December 2026. Salesforce removes the domain allowlists, and users who have not verified their email and return addresses can no longer send email from Salesforce. Logins are unaffected.
How do I know if my Salesforce org still uses Exchange Web Services? If Einstein Activity Capture, Inbox or Lightning Sync was connected to Microsoft 365 before Spring '26, it may still authenticate with EWS; connections made from Spring '26 use Microsoft Graph automatically. Check the authentication method on your configuration in Setup. The upgrade has been available since February 2026 and needs a Microsoft admin to grant consent.
What does Winter '27 give Starter Suite and Pro Suite customers? List Sends to Contact and Lead lists without a Data 360 segment (with scheduling in Starter Suite and Pro Suite), Agentforce included in Free Suite, and prebuilt MuleSoft and Flow integrations naming QuickBooks Online and Jira. Xero is not named. In the Sales section itself, only the Einstein Activity Capture exclusions page names Pro Suite.
SAASKOOL rolls out Winter '27 for sales teams through our Agentforce Sales (Sales Cloud) service and keeps orgs release-ready under managed services.
